Produktion2030’s Graduate School in Canada: The start of future collaborations
DAY 3 of our Produktion2030 course to Canada!
When 98% of electricity comes from water power (as we learned yesterday), it makes sense to electrify the automotive industry. Today, we got the chance to visit Nova Bus (which belongs to Volvo Group) and discovered that they are shifting to soon only producing electric buses. In the production line, they produce diesel, hybrid, and electric buses delivered to Canadian cities. After the factory visit, we had very interesting discussions about circularity, data visibility, skills, cultural and mindset shifts of society and workforce, charging infrastructure, fuel prices, and sustainability aspects with Alexandrine Gauvin and the team. We also discussed challenging weather conditions for electric cars, which Canada has in common with Sweden. Super interesting visit!
In the afternoon, we headed back to the city center and visited Alex Megelas at the Applied AI Institute at Concordia University. It was super interesting to learn about the Montréal AI Eco-system and the projects the recently started AI center has – bringing around 200 researchers from social science and engineering together to develop applications that benefit society. We discussed challenges when building AI solutions, and it was highlighted that trust and leadership issues play an immense role. Also, knowledge is power, which is why the Applied AI institute develops and delivers training to the employees of their partner companies.
Both visits today will hopefully be the start of future collaborations!
